Your forks should be rated at or above your machine's rated operating capacity. Don't exceed your machine's lift rating. The weakest point in the system is always your machine's capacity, not the forks.
Tine length determines how far the fork reaches under a pallet. 45-inch tines handle standard pallets; 60-inch and 72-inch are better for longer or oversized loads. Frame width affects stability on wider loads. If you're handling standard material pallets, a 45-inch tine with adjustable spacing is sufficient for most jobs.
Standard pallet forks are mechanical. No hydraulic connection required beyond your machine's lift and tilt. The Pallet Fork Grapple adds a hydraulic grapple that requires auxiliary hydraulics.
